If you’re looking to apply for a corporate job with McDonald’s, then you will definitely use an online application. This will take about an hour or less to complete, and by the end of it, you will be asked to take a few psychometric tests, namely:

  • Aptitude tests (to show what your strengths are)
  • Personality tests (to show what kind of person you are)

The online application will ask for your basic details, education and work history, availability to start work and if you have any work references.

You might also be asked motivational questions like why you want to work for the company or in the particular job you applied for.

McDonalds’ Tests

Whether you are applying to work in a corporate position or as a restaurant employee, you might be asked to take a series of aptitude tests. These are an essential part of the recruitment process during your initial application.

The Mcdonalds’ tests are designed to show the company what kind of person you are and what you’re good at.

McDonalds’ Personality test

This test takes approximately 30 minutes to an hour to finish. There will be around 60 or so questions. You will have several statements (given in pairs) to decide between that you deem to be the best option.

Along with the SJT, these questions are intended to determine how and if you are suited to a particular role.

Situational Judgement Test

This test is meant to show how you will act in specific workplace scenarios. You will be given a bunch of various scenarios in which you will be expected to rank the different responses from most to least viable.

The test is timed and fast-paced so as to challenge you and show your decision-making ability in a high-pressure environment. The questions are all related to customer service and teamwork.

Practising for the Mcdonalds’ tests will go a long way to ensuring your success, especially if you are honest and well-prepared in knowing what to expect!

Job Evaluation

If you successfully pass the Personality and SJ assessment test and have applied for a managerial position, you will be asked to complete a “job evaluation day”. On this day:

  • You will be shown how to do various tasks then,
  • You will undertake a series of different tasks and roles, both on the shop floor with staff and also in managerial positions dealing with complaints, etc.
  • You will be observed throughout the day and have limited time to do each of the tasks/scenarios set before you and to show off your skills to your future employers.

It is good practice to find out about its ethics and core values. This day is an excellent opportunity for you to see what the position might be like. It also gives the interviewer a chance to know whether you listen to instructions well and how you interact with customers.

Interview

You might also be asked to go through a few interviews during the company’s hiring process. The first interview will be telephonic, and then it might be followed up with an in-person interview.

Telephone interview

In this interview, you will get a few questions about your interest in the company and what motivated you to apply for one of their positions. You will also probably review the basic information you gave in your online application.

In-person interview

Here you will be expected to answer questions on your motivations, past work experience, aptitudes, expectations and hopes. Also, you will be told what the job requirements are. Interviews for corporate positions will be more in-depth and take longer.

Background check

When the interviews are done, the company might begin to contact the references you provided and will definitely complete background checks on you. If you do have a record of past criminal behaviour, you are not necessarily excluded from working with them, but it is in your best interest to be upfront with them about this.

McDonalds’ Orientation Day

Hired candidates are invited to attend an Orientation Day, which shows you the McDonald’s work environment. You will also be shown videos about the company’s goals, your job requirements, and Mcdonalds’ history

On this day, management-level employees will have another 30-minute interview. Candidates should use this time to ask as many questions and get as many answers as necessary to prepare themselves for when you start.

You will also be paid for the work you do on this day!

Interview Sample Questions

McDonalds’ tests will assess the candidate’s affinity to make connections with others and work as part of a team.

McDonald’s interview sample questions

  • Where do you see yourself in five years?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  • Why are you right for the position?
  • Why are you qualified for this job?
  • Why did you choose McDonald’s?
  • How do you work in a fast-paced environment?

The answers to these questions will give your potential future employer an idea of what personality you have and where you will be best suited. It would be best if you talked openly and honestly.
