In this test, you’ll watch a video segment, and then you’ll need to choose the best answer from a multiple-choice format. Each video segment will show a realistic situation in detail. This is because, as a firefighter, you’ll need to make crucial decisions every day.

It’s important to remember that none of the situations will be the same as the previous situation. To answer these questions, you’ll need to decide what you’ll want to achieve in each situation. You’ll also need to weigh the pros and cons of a situation.

FireTEAM Mechanical Aptitude Test

The FireTEAM Reading Test is another test that was specifically created for prospective firefighters. Having a job as a firefighter will involve an ongoing study of technical and complicated materials.

In the Reading Test, you will be shown a few paragraphs with information, and some of the words will be left blank. You will need to select the right word to fill in these blank spaces and complete the sentences. You will have different options to choose from in a multiple-choice format.

FireTEAM Math Test

The FireTEAM Math Test is another video-based test. Applicants will be asked to make fast calculations related to firefighters’ daily calculations. You won’t be able to use a pen and paper to help you with these calculations.

What Are the Differences Between the Extended FireTEAM Practice Tests and Basic FireTEAM Practice Tests?

The Extended FireTEAM Practice Test will have more questions than the Basic FireTEAM Practice Test. The Extended FireTEAM test was specifically designed to help applicants become familiar with the actual test.

Both these tests will contain the following items:

  • Mechanical Test
  • The maths tests will include questions from different math categories from the actual test
  • Reading Tests
  • Updated Relations video segments

How to Prepare for the FireTEAM Test

You’ll need to prepare differently for the practice FireTEAM Test and, eventually, the actual FireTEAM Test.

Personality Test

For the FireTEAM Personality Test, you’ll need to understand the qualities required to become a successful firefighter. These qualities include the following:

  • Courage
  • Empathy
  • Fast learner
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to stay calm in difficult situations
  • Ability to make quick decisions

If you can, you should try speaking to a local firefighter before you complete your actual FireTEAM test. You will be able to ask them questions about what helped them succeed in the test and on the job.

It can be challenging to prepare and study for any kind of personality test. There aren’t technically “right” or “wrong” answers in a personality test. Aside from familiarizing yourself with the qualities of a successful firefighter, you can also complete practice personality tests online.

Online practice personality tests will help you better understand the test format and the questions you might find in the test. You will also become familiar with the type of answers the fire department is looking for from a candidate.

The fire departments in some states will want applicants to complete a psychological evaluation that will be part of the personality assessment process. In the psychological evaluation, a qualified psychiatrist, psychologist, or professional will ask you questions to assess your ability to deal with the stress of being a firefighter.

Aptitude Tests

There are online practice assessments available to help improve the areas that need improvement. The practice tests will be based on the actual FireTEAM sections mentioned above. These practice tests will help you become more comfortable with the actual test format.

In the aptitude sections in the FireTEAMOnline test, you will need to know about emergency procedures, fire safety procedures, and other topics. So you’ll need to study information specifically related to firefighting, basic math skills, and reading comprehension.
